MIA and weekly goals…

September 30, 2009 4 comments

I know I have been MIA these past few days. I have been sick with sore throat and a cold. Monday was a heavy workday and I was so busy when I got home that I just couldn’t find the time to check in. Yesterday I was just too tired to even start up my comp. Just went to bed. So, two days with no exercise and I think that helps contribute, along with my cold, to help me feel like crap. 😦  Today I am having a sick day from work to get some extra rest so I can get back to my normal routine.

My weekly goals for last week were:                                                                                 hot100-small

  1. drink at least 8 glasses of water daily–did it!
  2. get through the weekend without a junk food binge–yeah! I made it!
  3. finish week 4 of C25K–finished!

My weekly goals this week are basically the same with a few changes:

  1. drink at least 8 glasses of water daily
  2. get through the weekend without a junk food binge
  3. at least walk on treadmill daily until feeling better
  4. when better, more active workout such as running
  5. finish another full week of healthy eating

I have decided to redo C25K week 4 as I found it to be very tough. It was going to be one of my weeks goals but, since I am under the weather, I didn’t want to push my body that hard and risk staying sick or worse, getting sicker. So that goal will be held off until next weeks goals.

I found one!

Look what I found!

health journal

Thank you Carla for the info on where to find it. I LOVE it. It has spots for your workouts, meals, snacks, water intake and even daily goals. I am going to start using it today to keep track of my eating and what I did each day for exercise. (my memory sucks from day to day! LOL)

While I was at Chapters, I also bought this:

giraffe bookmark

He is a bookmark! Giraffes are my absolute favorite animal. If I could have one for a pet, I would!! Image having one of him in the back yard!? 😉

For my workout yesterday I finished my week 4 of c25k running which completes on of my weekly goals. I have decided however that I am going to repeat week 4 because, I found it to be very tough. I think it is because I haven’t been persistant with my running workouts so I haven’t really built up the endurance yet. So week for it is again.

Today I will do my EA Sport Active workout (I once again have missed 2 days in a row 😳 ) and then a session of Wii fit. It is so much fun and adds a good variety to my workouts. According to my wii fit body test, I am 167.5 lbs. Tomorrow starts my work week and I like to use the scale there to weigh. I will see how much I differs from the wii board. ( I better weigh myself with my uniform on using the wii board so I have a proper comparison.)  However, someone mentioned that the Wii Fit balance board was a good scale to weigh on as it is more precisely calibrated. That makes sense too me! 🙂

I am off now to do my workout and get some more water in me.

How many of you use your Wii Fit balance board as your weigh scale?

A surprise! and a new favorite :)

September 25, 2009 2 comments

This morning, my son texts me and asks me to thaw out some chicken breasts and pick up some onions. I figured he just wanted some chicken breast something for dinner but, I was curious and asked him why? My dear precious boy is going to cook dinner for his family tonight! He already has something planned which involves the chicken, onions, potatoes and the bar-b-que. I am so excited for dinner!

Lunch today involved a home made greek salad which include this, my new favorite:

greek feta dressing

greek feta dressing

greek feta dressing

greek feta dressing

I just bought this today because I was too lazy to make my own greek dressing. Notice how the bottle is 1/4 empty? One word of CAUTION  ❗ remove the little squeeze top out of the bottle as the feta gets stuck, you squeeze harder, and plop, splash, 1/4 of the bottle of salad dressing is now covering your carefully made salad! Thankfully I was able to scrape most of it to the side of my plate and there is only 35 cals per tbsp but, I still think I ate my WEEKLY quota of salt. Very delicious stuff though.

Maybe I should have named this post 2 surprises…. because this sure took me by surprise today while doing my Wii Fit body test!

The test also told me that I am now down from 172 lbs to 168 1/2 lbs. yeah! That means I only have 1/2 lb to go to make my goal of 4 lbs this month in Lori’s 30 day challenge.

How are you guys who have Wii fits doing on your body tests?

Procrastination sucks…

Take it from me…don’t procrastinate!

Yesterday morning I put on some mascara and then forgot about it. Did my EA Active workout in the early afternoon and decided that the rest of my workout would be an outdoor run in the evening after supper. While taking a bathroom break in the middle of preparing supper, I glanced in the mirror and noticed that I now had smudged mascara under my eyes from my Active workout. Crap, DD’s boyfriend and son’s friends saw me like that! Oh well, I thought. I will take it off  later since I was in the middle of making supper. Guess what? I forgot about the mascara fiasco. After supper, out the door I headed for my run with DD and stopped to ask my hubby how I looked. I had on a tank top and shorts which made me self conscious. Both hubby and DD said I looked good, so off I went.

Um, I had a few strange looks. Whatever!

When I got home and stopped for a bathroom break, what did I see? My mascara fiasco! Embarrased!! 😳 Thanks hubby and DD!!! Your turn will come! LOL  😉

In spite of the fiasco, my run was excellent. It was very, very tough as the temp here was 33 degrees celcius. I have decided I need one of those water bottle holders that strap on to your hand. Wow, was I thirsty! All in all, yesterday I ended up drinking 13 glasses of water! I’ll be a sprinkler today. LOL

So many lunges..so many rows.

Had a super workout with EA Sports Active today. The workout had me dripping sweat from only resistance training. 278 cals burned. The game says 162.8 but I always wear my heart rate monitor for a more accurate measurement. Here is how well I did today:

98% is the highest percentage I have earned so far. I am proud of myself!

I even earned a new trophy. It is for burning 1000 calories on the game. (even though I burned a lot more than that according to my heart rate monitor)

It was a great workout and I will add to it later by going outdoors to do my run with my DD and doggy in tow.

Agoraphobia what?

Maybe some one can explain this to me. I am at a total loss. I get up everyday on my work week and head out to work no problem. Want to go trail biking or hiking? No prob. But, walk the half block to check the  mail,  pop down to the store for some groceries, or weed my garden? Talk a run outdoors? Forget it! No way!

For some reason that I don’t understand or can’t even explain, it is almost impossible to get myself to leave the house. I am afraid for some unknown, unreasonable reason. I have never had a bad or tramatic experience happen to me out in the world that would explain it. (not even the fright from the other night. That has happened before and just pisses me off!) Last spring, summer, and fall I had absolutely no problem going outside to do outside things. I especially loved doing my running outdoors, or rollerblading, or walking. This year, you practically have to drag me kicking and screaming to get me out there. Once I get going I am fine and in the cases of biking or running, I don’t even want to go home when I am done. So, today is SO beautiful outside and the nice weather won’t be here for much longer but, I won’t even open my curtains. What the hell? I love the outdoors, once you’ve dragged me out. My DD is the best at getting me out there to run. But without her? Forget it!!

Is it some unconscious fear of something happening to me when alone that keeps me stuck here? No probs going to work each day. No probs going out biking or hiking with DD and her boyfriend. No probs walking uptown to check mail or visit the grocery store with one of my kids.

Now that I think about it, no probs going out with my dog.

I guess my pup will actually start getting the daily exercise she needs!

Any ideas?
