Learning to fly…

Yesterday morning, while still not feeling great, I once again woke up to a house that looks like a tornado had hit it. I swear that once my kids turned into teens, they forgot what a garbage can it, what a hamper is, where dirty dishes belong, how to wash a dish, that not every article of clothing in their room is dirty just because it touched the floor, how to feed the pets, and to keep the t.v remotes on the table, ect.. Most of you get the drift. I burst into tears when I had to wash a spoon once again just to stir my coffee. With 5 of us in a one floor 1040 sq ft. house, there is clutter everywhere.

So in desperation, I turned to Flylady!!

I needed help to get control of my home again and of myself. It was to the point I was dreading coming home from work ( and my work isn’t a place you want to spend extra time!). Flylady is a get control of your life one babystep at a time lady and team who help you to start regaining control of your surroundings in only a few minutes each day. I feel better and more in control after only a day and a half of her help. I encourage any of you who feel overwhelmed with your cluttered home to check out her site and give it a try. Slowly, day by day, I will get my home back in shape and CLEAN!

I am feeling so much better today and looking forward, forward to my running workout today. I need to kick ass this next week if I want to finish my 100 mile challenge.

I have decided to start out with my weight training again with the few weights that I do have in the house since it has been many months since I have lifted any. I tried to persuade my son and hubby to bring my others in from the garage but, they claim they are all over the place (they apparently needed the box they were in) and may not all be there anymore. My hubby suggested I go out and buy a new set that goes up to higher weights than I had in the garage anyways. So I guess that is what I will do when I head into the city on Monday. I am anxious to get started on them.

Any good places to pick up some weight sets? Good deals? Does anyone own some of those weights where you can dial the weight you want? And what are they like?

I don’t own a set of the weights where you can dial the weight you want, but I’ve used a friend’s many times, and they are pretty slick. He’s got the ones made by Bow Flex, which I think run something like $400. It’s really nice when there’s more than one of you working out together, because it’s easy to switch back and forth to different weights for each of you between reps. I’ve thought about picking some up a number of times, but just haven’t made that leap yet.

I think I saw the Bow Flex ones at Costco not too long ago. And I think they were around $400 there also. Costco seems to sell a lot of Bow Flex stuff.

I think I’ve seen a set of weights you can dial the weight on at BJ’s Wholesale (do you have that around you?). It’s not the bowflex version though, but I wasn’t that expensive.

I have a set of twenty pound weights that I bought at Target, they and Wal-Mart seem to have pretty good (and inexpensive) sets.

We have Wholesale something, can’t quit remember what it’s called. And of course checking at Wal-Mart is a given. šŸ™‚ I know back in the summer they had some good sets for not to bad a price. I should have grabbed some then but, you know procrastination!

I am so bad with clutter. Will have to check out that site.. THX!

Well, my weights are in the gym so… BUT if you have a Play It Again Sams store near you, they sell stuff at decent prices too on top of the suggestions already mentioned.

YES, start the weights again.. from a person that loves them! Hope you had a good run!

    Check out craigslist.

Craigslist and Kiji are on my list of things to do tomorrow. A great bench to go along with the weights would be a bonus!

I love FlyLady! Except sometimes I don’t like opening her daily emails because then I feel guilty if I don’t do what she says! šŸ™‚

I found my weights at a yard sale for under $5.00! And they are a really, really nice set.

Oops, I meant play it again sports.. sorry, but you got it! šŸ™‚

Can’t help you on the weight question, but good luck getting back with it. ALso good luck with your house. I SO know what that overwhelmed feeling is like and it sucks. Hope you have a great week ahead!

I feel your pain about keeping the house clean… between my 4 kids, and my 2 ‘borrowed’ kids I feel like it’s a lost cause! Maybe i’ll look into FlyLady again see if she can whip my butt into shape again! lol!!

As for the weights, you’ve got lots of great suggestions. I’d 2nd the Kijiji suggestion though!!

You mean my kids are going to get WORSE as they get older?! Yikes!

I’ve got these fab weights, but I don’t know what they cost; they came as part of a package my hubbie and I won at a silent auction benefit. I believe they originally came from fitness depot (Canada). Lets see if I can get a photo of them into the comments…
