Dad

February 23, 2010 16 comments

Dad, I love you! And I miss you so much!

Last Wednesday, Feb 17 th, my heart and soul were ripped out of my body. My heart is in pieces which I believe will no longer be able to be pieced together. I feel as if my soul is dying.

I lost my dad…

While at work, his aorta burst, causing blood to flow where it didn’t belong, and cutting off the flow of blood to his brain. He then suffered a massive stroke.

The surgeons were able to repair his heart, a very successful surgery, one they said had a low survival rate, and he survived, but his brain continued to swell to the point of cutting off blood flow to the other side of his brain causing more strokes. He never recovered. And it killed me to have to let him go.

Because of my grief, I was unable to do my weekly update last week for the Perfect 10 challenge, and to be honest, I don’t think I will be doing one for this week either. Because right now, I don’t give a crap about my workouts or my eating. I am hurting to much to care about anything. I can’t believe I have any tears left to shed, but, they keep on coming. The grief I feel is unbearable and I would trade places with him in a heart beat if I could only bring him back. And what makes my tears worse is that I never knew how many people loved my dad, how much he meant to these people, his friends and coworkers. It makes me happy and sad at the same time. At least he wasn’t alone while away from his family.

I love you dad, and I miss you!

Yoga for Wii

February 15, 2010 4 comments

I do love to do yoga, inspite of the fact that I just haven’t made the time for it. I think, that if I tried harder, I could find the time to incorporate it into my daily or at least weekly exercise routines. I am one of those people obsessed with finding more and more info/routines on the exercises I like to do. Because of this, I have been on the hunt for a Yoga workout game for my Wii. Yes, Wii fit plus does have yoga moves that you can make into your own routine, but I needed more. I eventually found this (which costs $39.99 here so I need to save up!):

I am looking forward to getting this game and working yoga into a bigger part of my exercise routine. Between the yoga, resistance training, and running, I should soon be one lean, mean, fit machine!

(and lookin hot on my Harley! 😉 )

What about you guys? Do you do yoga on a regular basis?

What about you men folk out there? Any of you do yoga?

Perfect 10 week 6 update.

February 12, 2010 2 comments

Already it is time for week 6’s update in the Perfect 10 challenge put on by Steve over at Log My Loss. Go on over and check out his site to see how he, and many others are doing  on the challenge. Unfortunately it is already to late to join but your support to those who are already participating is always appreciated. That being said,

Here are my goals for ‘The Perfect 10′ challenge .

  1. Lose 8-10 lbs. (starting weight 156 lbs)–current weight is 152.7 , a 1.7 lb gain since last week. But, with the stress of this past week and a non healthy, regular eating schedule, I am not surprised.
  2. run 5 kms or more at least 2 times per week-now workouts what so ever. read here to see why.
  3. finish 5 weeks of the Gateway to 8 k program. (the program is 10 weeks but, I know I will need to repeat some weeks so 5 weeks is sufficient and it will correspond with #2)–need to get started on week 4.
  4. get started on a weight training routine. I am thinking of starting again with NROLW.–nothing done. read here to see why. Plan to get started again tonight or tomorrow. It is time to get back into my workouts.

And now  for something you don’t know about me:

When I was in kindergarten, my mom babysat 2 boys. One day, one of the boys and I were chasing each other around the house. He, ran out the screen door and closed it tight instead of letting it close itself with it’s spring. I didn’t realize it was latched so as I was running, I just pushed on the window of the door to swing it open so I could catch him. Instead of opening, my right arm went right through the glass of the door and slit my wrist open. My father rushed me to emerg. where I was stitched up and put in a cast to keep my arm straight and safe while it healed.

It looks, on my right wrist, as if I had slit my wrists to try to take my own life. To this day, when people notice my wrist, and think they know me enough to ask, they will ask me about it, assuming that I have some sad moment in my life where I tried to take my own. I can tell that some people don’t believe my story about when I was 5 but, screw them as I know what happened. So, having kids, and glass screen doors, I cringe every time they are rushing out the door and not paying much attention the what they are doing!

Upside down world…

February 11, 2010 5 comments

My horoscope said, a few days ago, that the wool was being pulled over my eyes and to learn the truth……

Well, the truth came earlier this week, and it turned my families world upside down. It is a truth I can’t speak of here right now but, it is a tramatic truth, a shocker, a truth that has made me physically ill from the shock and stress of it all. Each and every one of us in my family has been affected, and are hurting.

Because of this, I haven’t had even one workout this week, or one day of healthy, regular eating. Food makes me vomit, or close too it, and shock keeps me too weak to even think of working out. I am a wreck.

To top off my week, and my day, when I went to pick up a few groceries to tied us over, my battery in my jeep died. Both my broken footed daughter and I were stranded in the city. It took 2 hours for us to get help, in the form of my hubby leaving work early once again, to come help. Not one single person asked if we needed help in the whole two hours we sat freezing our asses off in the jeep. My hubby had to boost me and I just managed to make it home (a 40 min drive) before the battery calfed again. I now have a new battery and we are finally home.

I am a wreck.

Hopefully tomorrow things will seem better, and more settled, and I can get some much needed rest, and some decent food without vomiting it up. And get back to painting. Because right now, my hatred for painting is so trivial that, I could love it instead and I look forward to the distraction of it.

I don’t like living in an upside down world.

Exercise variety week..

February 8, 2010 7 comments

Since we are in the process of painting up our house, and my living room is shoved into my dining room so I have no access to my treadmill, I need to think of alternatives to my exercise routine. So this week and possibly next, I will need to pull out this:

And this:

And these:

And get to work! I am hoping to get a day or two this week while off work to go to the gym and get in a run or two. I don’t want to lose the progress I have made with my running. I have had a whole week off of workouts since the end of the New Year 100 mile challenge. It was nice to have a break and not worry about when or how I was going to get in a workout. But, it is time to get back into it and make some more progress. I am only 21 lbs away from my goal weight now and I won’t get there sitting on my rear! LOL 🙂

Painting update:

We have finished painting the living room. We need to buy the trim and the chair rail still and paint and install those but, we had decided to get the dining room and kitchen painted first, and then do the trim for the whole house all at once. So for a couple of weeks each room won’t be completely finished, and each room will be moved around twice but, that will ensure that we actually do ALL the painting and not procrastinate about doing anymore painting! LOL. Besides, I have the week off and I can use the time to get it done. So by the end of the weekend, the dining room should be painted and the kitchen prepped.

I hate painting!!!

We have finally decided to finish the renovations on our house. We have the drywall up and some of the mudding done but, that is it. We have had it this way for years. Neither one of us actually likes doing the renovations so we have been procrastinating for a long time. Hubby and I are embarrassed about how the house looks when people are over so we deceded that enough is enough. Lets get it done.

Today’s project is the living room. I hate painting with a passion! Maybe I should paint it Mr. Bean’s way!

We have 9 foot ceilings in our home which is 83 years old. It is by no means a big, old fashioned awesome house. It is half of the old hotel that was in the town and taken down in 1927. The other half is also a home somewhere here in town. It is only 1040 sq ft, with no basement or upper level. So very small for a family of 5. Eventually we are hoping to sell it to get and acreage.

Anyways, wish me luck as I truly believe I am the worst painter in the history of  painters and painting. I always end up in tears and having a temper tantrum! LOL  🙂  I must really make my hubby proud!! LOL  😉

Week 5 Perfect 10 update!

Already it is time for week 5’s update in the Perfect 10 challenge put on by Steve over at Log My Loss.

(starting weight 156 lbs)–current weight is 151 which means a loss so far of  5 lbs.
  2. run 5 kms or more at least 2 times per week–ran 3 times this week.
  3. finish 5 weeks of the Gateway to 8 k program. (the program is 10 weeks but, I know I will need to repeat some weeks so 5 weeks is sufficient and it will correspond with #2)–haven’t done week 4 yet as I have decided to take a few days off of workouts after the New year 100 mile challenge.
  4. get started on a weight training routine. I am thinking of starting again with NROLW.–got started last weekend. Only did one workout though so far. Will do more since I have the next week off. That should get me started better and more into a routine.

And now  for something you don’t know about me:

I am absolutely repulsed by toe nails! So repulsed in fact that I need to make my poor girls cut them for me. And while they are at it, I get them to paint them too. LOL  🙂

Short but sweet!
